Being God’s Giver

A Need in Haiti
Throughout the world in December, churches joined together and celebrated the birth of our Savior. For some, that celebration took place in stunning settings of grandeur, but for others, the celebration occurred in simple, makeshift settings similar to that of the Savior’s birth.

Churches in Haiti are still recovering and rebuilding after the devastating 2010 earthquake. Unlike the vast majority of our congregations, the ones in Haiti have no actual church buildings. Left to worship in the open air amidst the rubble, Haitian pastors continue to serve faithfully. You can help provide facilities for them!

Through a partnership with Construction for Worldwide Evangelism, GARBC International Ministries has committed $20,000 to build two churches in Haiti. In addition, through a partnership with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism, GARBC International Ministries is aiming to raise $4,000 to build four pastors’ homes in 2012. You can join in this great and important work. Click here to get involved and find out more!

GARBC Resource Center Staff Gives Gifts
As part of the Christmas celebration at the GARBC Resource Center, the staff “decked the halls.” Each department decorated is area to highlight one of the GARBC ministries. The decorations served not only as a source of fun but also as a tool to witness to vendors who visit during December.

In addition to the decorating, the staff gave monetary gifts for the ministries they were featuring, totaling more than $1,500. The Customer Service Department alone donated $800 to provide scholarships for pastors and their families to attend the 2012 GARBC Conference. Staff throughout the building gave of their own resources to assist pastors and churches, despite the fact that they did not receive pay raises for the upcoming year or Christmas bonuses due to lack of funding. Their gracious spirit of giving is a testimony of their love for Christ and His church.

If you would like to support one of the GARBC ministries, you can still do so! See the project list at Christmas Giving.
