Almost everybody has an ideal vacation—that perfect time and place that’s restful, rejuvenating, and enjoyable. This is often based on personality and experience that won’t change over the long haul of your life, but sometimes your ideal does change. My wife and I joke that our ideal vacation is reading books in the wilderness somewhere where we can have uninterrupted time just to think and relax (of course, with some fun activities like hiking and boating mixed in!). Unfortunately with five young kids, that ideal vacation looks a long way away! 🙂
Growing up as a kid, my family did the requisite camping and historical sights. I love those. We also went to Disney World in Florida, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, and Washington D.C. With our kids, we’ve been to the north shore of Lake Superior as well as camping in various places. Personally we find Family Camp at Iowa Regular Baptist Camp pretty restful when you have young children. What are some places you like to go to (and go back to) for vacation? One gem for me: the KOA at Hayward, Wis.
