Q.
Why is God never mentioned in the book of Esther?
A.
The word “God” is not found in the book. Likely it is because the Jewish people living at that time during the Persian Empire were, in general, out of the will of God. The omission of reference, whether or not intentional, reflects on their disobedience. This curious fact is a marvelous testimony to God’s faithfulness, because, even though God is not mentioned per se, His working on behalf of His people is quite evident throughout the account.
