Does God Love Us More as Time Passes?

By March 1, 1990November 9th, 2022No Comments

Q.

I heard a speaker say that God doesn’t love one of His own any more as time passes than He did at his conversion to Him. I don’t understand.

A.
The speaker probably had in mind the fact that God is unchanging, that His love isn’t like ours— flaming hot one day and cold the next. We as believers certainly love God and the Lord Jesus more and more. At least that ought to be the case. But God isn’t that way. Eons and eons ago when God devised salvation’s plan, His love toward us was just as perfect as it is today. Jeremiah 31:3 states, “I have loved thee with an everlasting love,” showing this principle of the constancy of God’s love.
