James A. Ruck, Pastor Emeritus

MARYSVILLE, Ohio—James A. Ruck, former church-planting missionary, died on Sept. 21, 2011, at age 76.

An ordained minister since 1970, Jim Ruck was pastor emeritus of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Marysville, Ohio, which he founded in 1993. As a missionary with Baptist Mid-Missions, he planted not only the Marysville church but a church in Japan and rescued several ministries in Colorado, Nova Scotia, and Marion, Ohio. In August 2010 he and his wife, Carol, received a 40-year service pin as active and emeritus missionaries with BMM.

A veteran of the United States Army, he served with the occupation forces in Korea. He was a World War II history buff and enjoyed visiting the Wright-Patterson Air Force museum.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Ruck and Dorothy and Bill Smith; and a sister, Doris Scroggs.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol; two daughters, Deborah Smith and Rebekah “Becky” Ruck; six grandchildren; and a brother, William “Billy” Smith.
