Harold O. Roberts, 81, associate pastor of Puyallup Community Baptist Church, Puyallup, Wash., died April 1 at his home in Buckley, Wash.

Harold served in the U.S. Army 51st Signal Battalion during the Korean conflict, and graduated from the University of Washington in 1959 with a BS in electrical engineering. He was employed with Boeing for 29 years, during which he worked on many interesting projects, including the airborne warning and control system (AWACS) program, which provides surveillance, command-and-control, and communications functions for tactical and defensive missions.

Sensing a call to serve the Lord in full-time ministry, Harold retired early to earn an MA in Biblical studies from Northwest Baptist Seminary. He then served the Lord and His people in several congregations, including First Baptist Church, Boardman, Oreg., as pastor from 1991 to 1996. Most recently he was pastor of senior ministries at Puyallup Community Baptist Church, Puyallup, Wash., where he joyfully served until the end.

Harold enjoyed God’s creation by fishing, hiking, and camping with Boy Scouts, family, and friends. He passionately loved and prayed for others, especially his family.

He is survived by his wife, Carole; their children, Brian, Amy Stone, Lorna Hidalgo, and Dean; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
