SCHAUMBURG, Ill.—Several new books will debut at the 2011 GARBC Conference in Denver, Colo., released by Regular Baptist Books, a new publishing imprint of Regular Baptist Press.

Law and Grace by Myron Houghton explores a misunderstood theological subject from several perspectives. After discussing Roman Catholic and Reformed views of law, gospel, and grace, the book uses an exposition of Romans to present a dispensational framework for distinguishing key theological concepts. Houghton views the law and grace distinction as “the key to understanding my theology,” an important foundational concept for developing a consistent systematic theology. Pastors, church leaders, and ministry students will appreciate Myron Houghton’s thorough exegesis and practical applications, including advice on tithing, Sabbath-keeping, and the believer’s responsibility to follow grace principles for godly living.

Long noted as one of the association’s finest systematic theologians, Houghton earned a PhD in systematic theology at Dallas Theological Seminary and a ThD at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, having previously graduated from Moody Bible Institute, Pillsbury College, Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary, Grace Theological Seminary, Southern Methodist University, St. Thomas Theological Seminary, and St. Stephen’s Course of Studies in Orthodox Theology.

The Business Side of Ministry by Michael Nolan is a basic guide to the business side of church ministry: finances (personal and church), planning and budgeting, salaries, legal matters, and more. While readers may not become experts in financial matters, they will gain a working understanding of these topics and practical tools to help churches.

Michael Nolan (MBA, University of Dallas) is the director of business administration and treasurer for Regular Baptist Ministries. He previously worked for General Motors and GMAC, gaining experience in business management, human resources, sales, and marketing. Michael also serves as the director of Baptist Builders Club, a ministry to start, grow, and rebuild churches. He serves on the Church Care board of Baptist Church Planters and as a trustee of the Baptist Bible College and Seminary Foundation.

Don’t Ever Give Up, the autobiography of Robert Hunter, was produced with the assistance of Dr. Frank Gainer and in cooperation with the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship Association. Robert Hunter was a cofounder of the FBFA and was its first national representative. This new book details his attempts as an African American to bring his church into the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches. Though rebuffed several times, his church was eventually admitted, leading to the GARBC’s formal apology in 2000. After many years serving as a GARBC pastor and church-planting missionary, Dr. Hunter lives in a care facility near Cleveland, Ohio.

All future books will be published under the new Regular Baptist Books imprint, a publishing division designed to meet the growing needs of churches and seminaries. “The new imprint is a purposeful venture for us,” says Alex Bauman, director of Regular Baptist Press. “It helps us show we are publishing products beyond our well-known lines of curriculum and Bible studies. Our core values are important and need a more visible platform in our churches and academic communities.”
