Men’s Seminar Discusses Leaving a Legacy

VASSAR, Mich.—Men from 14 Michigan churches attended Men Modeling the Master, a one-day seminar sponsored by the eastern regional association of the Michigan Association of Regular Baptist Churches. The men “came to have their hearts challenged, and they were not disappointed,” says Tony Barber, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, which hosted the event March 3.

Jim Jeffery, discipleship pastor at Chapel Pointe Church, Hudsonville, Michigan, spoke on “Leaving a Legacy: Impacting the Next Generation.” Before joining the staff of Chapel Pointe Church, Jeffery was president of Clarks Summit University from 2001 to 2015.

“Pastor Jeffery taught us that our walk with God comes through a life of distinction, a life of godliness, and a life of influence,” Barber says. “Each man left with a challenge to develop a life that leaves a legacy that God is pleased with and a life that others can observe and seek.”

Since an interest of Jeffery’s is Harley-Davidson motorcycles, a portion of the venue had been decorated with Harley-Davidson items, including two custom Harleys parked in the church building. But as Jeffery says, “Following Christ is the adventure of a lifetime!”
