BATAVIA, N.Y.—Equipping teachers for effective instruction is a priority at Grace Baptist Church. To underscore the church’s commitment to teacher training, Grace Baptist hosted an “Engage” training seminar. More than 60 teachers attended the training day in January, planned by Pastor Don Shirk and Associate Pastor Jeffrey Bartz.
Alan Wilson and Tony Randolph, guest presenters from Regular Baptist Press, led workshops for teachers of adults and children on topics of improving teaching effectiveness, leading healthy Bible studies, improving Sunday School, and personal discipleship.
Those attending found a zeal to be more effective in the classroom, realizing that the lives of children and adults were in the balance. One teacher says, “I was reminded of my responsibility as a children’s teacher for God’s Word, and the passion I need to have in delivering the message.” Another participant states, “I need to be prepared to clearly and accurately deliver the gospel message to my audience, whether it be to a children’s Sunday School class or to anyone who I encounter during my day.” Pastor Shirk expresses his appreciation for the day, saying, “The teachers left encouraged, challenged and valued.”
