GREENVILLE, S.C.—GARBC National Representative Mike Hess and his wife, Christina, visited the campus of Bob Jones University. Since both had heard about the school but had never visited, they were there for a firsthand look and to strengthen ties between the school and the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches.

BJU has influenced GARBC pastors, leaders, and church members for decades, with the two institutions having a warm connection during the association’s early years. The Hesses’ visit was a step in rekindling the relationship between the association and school.

Dr. Sam Horn, one of the university’s two executive vice presidents, says, “It was a great blessing to have Mike and Christina Hess with us on campus for a special visit recently. Our time with them was full and rich as they toured the campus, meeting key leaders and spending time with our executive leadership. We sense a special bond with the Hesses already and look forward to an ongoing friendship for the furtherance of the gospel.”

Mike says he and Christina were thrilled to visit the BJU campus for the first time and were blessed by the school’s generous hospitality. “The GARBC and BJU share a commitment to our doctrinal stand and our commitment to make disciples through healthy local churches,” says Hess. “BJU’s leadership demonstrated a strong desire to partner with us in a number of ministry endeavors. This school is served well by a group of Christlike servants. We’re grateful that God has brought the GARBC and BJU together.”
