Emmanuel Baptist in Toledo Ordains Dan Neighbors

By January 31, 2023No Comments

Emmanuel Baptist Church, Toledo, Ohio, ordained Dan Neighbors Jan. 26. He has been an associate pastor at the church since 2013.

“Dan chose a different pathway to this ministry milestone because he has already been serving as a pastor,” says Renee Mungons, a member of Emmanuel Baptist. “Marriage, ministry, and raising a family caused one year to roll into another: life got busy.”

Dan graduated from the former Northland Baptist Bible College with a BA in church ministries and obtained a master’s in Biblical studies two years later. He was a youth pastor in Illinois for four years before becoming the youth pastor at Emmanuel Baptist in August 2013. He accepted the position “because he appreciated the preaching and teaching emphasis of Pastor Duke Crawford,” Renee says.

Six years later he moved into his current role as associate pastor of students, families, and communications.

An ordination service took place Sunday, Jan. 29. Duke told the congregation, “God calls out from among us those whose vocation is Christian ministry. We celebrate the glory of the Lord through Christian ministry.”

Dan preached a message from Psalm 130, emphasizing how God can deliver His people in times of trouble. Dan’s father, retired pastor James Neighbors, also spoke, encouraging his newly ordained son to make fellowship with God, family, and faithfulness the priorities of his ministry.
