OHconf1_INNORTHFIELD, Ohio—About 100 church ministry workers from a 175-mile radius met at Northfield Baptist Church for the first Ohio Church Ministries Conference March 28 and 29. The Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches partnered with Baptist Bible College and Seminary and Northfield Baptist Church to start what they hope will become an annual conference designed for church ministry volunteers.

Jim Jeffery, president of BBC&S, spoke on the theme “We Love the Church!” Four workshop sessions complemented his three motivational messages. Attendees chose four of 20 workshops on ministry to children, youth, and adults; leadership development; and general ministry topics.

OHconf3_INStaff from BBC&S, Northfield Baptist Church, and several organizations led workshops like “Gone Fishin’” (“I have discovered that the sport of fishing and the act of witnessing have a lot in common,” said presenter John Jackson of BBC&S) and “Does Money Drive Ministry, or Ministry Drive Money?” (“Where does vision for ministry fit in with the year-after-year analysis of our giving?” asked presenter Tom Bevan of the BBC Foundation).

Exhibitors displayed a variety of resources, including curriculum, technology, Bible software, and health care options.

The practical workshops, informative exhibits, and challenging general sessions were all aimed at helping attendees become more excited and effective servants.

Eric Puff, associate pastor of Northfield Baptist Church, thanks the event organizers “for providing an excellent model for us.”
