LAPEER, Mich.—First Baptist Church hosted its second annual Bible conference Jan. 20. This year’s speaker was Dr. Chris Bruno, assistant professor of New Testament and Greek at Bethlehem College and Seminary in Minneapolis. About 80 people from 15 churches gathered to learn how the redemptive story of Scripture applies to their daily lives.

Throughout the four sessions centered on the theme “Living in the Big Story,” Bruno summarized the Bible’s big story and showed how the New Testament authors used the Old Testament. “Once we know the big story of the Bible,” Bruno says, “we realize the story isn’t over; new creation is still to come. So then, what difference does this make in all of the things we think about during the week: our marriages, our parenting, our jobs, church membership, money, missions, etc.?” Answering that question, he applied the concept of redemption to everyday matters, including marriage and suffering.

First Baptist desired that the conference would be a help to other churches and individuals.
