DecaturIL_inlineDECATUR, Ill.—Riverside Baptist Church held a Family Fun Day that not only provided a fair-like atmosphere but gave school supplies to the children who attended. “We wanted to do something to help people in our community with a tangible need and connect them to the gospel message,” says Pastor Nathan Sabin.

On July 26 families from the Decatur area enjoyed a train ride, bouncy castles, games, and a free meal at the church. About 100 children and their parents attended. Those who took a ride on the Salvation Station train ride clearly heard the gospel presented.

And skipping the train ride was not an option. In order to receive school supplies, guests must obtain signatures from each station and return their completed cards to the school supply table. Volunteers were also on hand to distribute information about the ministries of Riverside Baptist Church, such as VBS, Sunday School, and Awana.

“Our volunteers endured a 90-plus degree day (on asphalt) in order to share the love of Christ with the Decatur community,” Sabin says. “Praise God for His goodness to us as we served the Decatur community.”
