NAPERVILLE, Ill.—Emmanuel Baptist Church teens  proudly display the Talents For Christ (TFC) team award they received for participating in the 2011 TFC competition  at the GARBC Conference, June 27-July 1,  in Denver, Colorado. The team award is a traveling trophy that is presented to the church with five or more competing teens, which has the highest average score. The Naperville students entered a total of six competitions to win the award: Celeste Scott in Bible Knowledge;   Philip Williams  in Bible Knowledge (2nd place); Sara Todd in Piano (Open division-2nd place); Shaina Todd in Woodwinds (Open division-2nd place); Celeste Scott in Strings (Open division-1st place); and the group in Drama (1st place). Philip Williams, son of Emmanuel Baptist’s pastor and wife, Dale and Shirley Williams, wrote the winning drama, which centered on the theme of not being judgmental.

The Open (non-scholarship) competition allows students to enjoy friendly competition while gaining ministry skills. Youth leaders can ready their youth group to participate in next year’s TFC competition and to enjoy the Students Alive! teen program to be held during the GARBC Conference, June 25-29, 2012, in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.
