LorainOH_inlineLORAIN COUNTY, Ohio—For the 15th year, First Baptist Church of Wellington partnered with First Baptist Church of Elyria for a joint outreach at the Lorain County (Ohio) Fair Aug. 18–24. Each year, the churches rent a tent at the fair, decorate it with a fountain and flowers, and hang banners asking, “Are You Thirsty?” By providing free water to fairgoers, the churches hope to draw them in to hear about the Water of Life. With the fair’s average daily attendance of 18,000, there are plenty of opportunities to share gospel tracts, bracelets, and Gospel Flipper-Flappers, as well as coloring and activity books for children.

Tom Alexander, pastor of the Wellington church, says, “One of the biggest benefits of the ministry is the impact it has on our workers. For many of them it is a stretch to set aside a block of time to share the gospel with others, and for some it is the very first time.” He says the churches plant thousands of gospel seeds and have numerous opportunities for more in-depth conversations each year.
