Regular Baptist Camps Connect at Conference

The National Association of Regular Baptist Camps met for its annual conference at Bethany Camp Nov. 6–9. Located in Sinclairville, New York, Bethany Camp has a mission to “Create an Environment for Spiritual Growth and Change.”

The camp’s 213 acres provided ample space for camp staff and families across the country to experience time away from the busyness of camp life while connecting with one another.

Workshops and roundtables addressed many areas of camp life and ministry, including food service, internships, games, maintenance, offices, and stores. Main sessions taught camp staff how to communicate effectively with others, taking into consideration people’s personalities.

A benefit auction at the end of the conference raised over $7,000—exceeding the auction’s goal—to help a sister camp in India build a well on its property for easier water access.

“I have been in full-time ministry for 35 years, and I can report there is no youth ministry that is as effective as a week of summer camp,” says Darrell Friar, director of Bass Lake Camp, Winnebago, Minnesota. “Camp is a harvest field! . . . Every year at camp we see decisions for Christ, mostly for salvation.”

Jon Beight, director of Twin Lakes Camp and Conference Center, Hillsboro, Indiana, says the conference physically and spiritually refreshed attendees to serve throughout the winter retreat season.
