Jim Vogel Appointed to New Position with GARBC

Jim Vogel

LANCASTER, PA. Jim Vogel, pastor of South Baptist Church, Flint, Mich., will become Associate National Representative for the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches in September. Jim will be assisted by his wife, Jeannie, who frequently speaks to women’s groups.

The announcement capped a week of sermons, workshops, and resolutions to support the Association’s goal of thinking seriously about the contemporary church. (Read more of this article…)

Council of Eighteen Elections and TFC Group Results

Jessica LaFleur presents the Biblical account of Daniel in an oral interpretation of Scripture for the Talents For Christ presentation.

LANCASTER, PA. — High school students from across the country compete in twelve categories during the annual Talents For Christ competition, part of the 2007 National Conference of the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches.

The students have qualified for the annual event by placing first or second in state competitions. Judges chose several of the participants to perform in a concert on Thursday evening, with results of the individudual competition announced on Friday morning. Earlier in the day, Students Alive! director Scott Greening announced the winners in the group competition.

In in the afternoon business session, messengers to the 2007 National Conference elected new members to the Council of Eighteen:

  • Tom Alexander, Pastor – First Baptist Church (Wellington, Ohio)
  • Bryan Augsburger, Pastor – First Baptist Church (Arlington Heights, Illinois)
  • Robert Fields, Pastor – Germantown Hills Baptist Church (Metamora, Illinois)

  • Michael Peck, Vice President – Baptist Church Planters (Elyria, Ohio)

    75 Years of God’s Goodness

    Stowell Card

    Elizabeth Bourdess, 93, a friend of Dr. and Mrs. Joe Stowell II, signs a prayer card for Corabelle Stowell that was on display at the back of the auditorium after the evening service. Guests were invited to express words of sympathy to Mrs. Stowell after her husband went home to be with the Lord last Saturday night.

    LANCASTER, PA. — Hundreds of guests signed gigantic tribute cards to Mrs. Corabelle Stowell after watching the premiere of the new DVD, 75 Years of God’s Goodness. Tuesday was a day for reflection on Association history, as well as preaching and teaching on the nature of the church.
