Kids love the GARBC Conference! Not only do they make new friends and eat out in restaurants, but they have fun times learning about God’s Word! This year’s specially-designed children’s program will feature an interactive time in which Bible characters become alive in children’s minds. Students will learn that the Christ-like characteristics that these characters possess, they can possess too. Fun games, an exciting field trip, and practical application will make this a Conference kids will remember!
Do you know of someone who you esteem highly because of his or her ministry? The GARBC Annual Service Awards allow us to celebrate the dedication of servants who love the Lord and love other people. If you know of a worthy servant—either a teen or an adult who is a member of a church in the GARBC, please submit a nomination in his or her honor. You still have time to nominate—the deadline is extended to April 11th. The world is full of bad role models; let’s honor good, God-honoring role models! Servants who are selected will be honored at the GARBC Annual Conference and featured in the Baptist Bulletin magazine.
The Flying Wienie Restaurant? You’ve got to be kidding! It’s one of those places that you will be able to feature in good story telling to your family and friends. It’s an iconic, greasy spoon, must-see-and-experience eatery in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa. When you come to this year’s GARBC Annual Conference you’ll get in on great preaching, singing, ministry workshops, resource ideas, and lots of good visiting with friends. With these terrific features plus the opportunity to experience this one of a kind fine dining, how could you stay home? I’m looking forward to seeing you in Cedar Rapids, June 24-27, 2008.
What must it have been like for those who looked up as spectators at Jesus Christ on the cross? What words actions and emotions would you have expressed if you had been among those people? Gather with our family of GARBC churches in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to ponder the Annual Conference theme, The Glories of the Cross. You will be drawn to the cross through preaching, worship, and reflection. It is my prayer that our response will be that penned by Isaac Watts, “Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.”
My dear mother, who at 94 years of age is my great fan and prayer supporter, told me before the conference, “I’ve been praying that God will give our Fellowship a great conference this year, and I believe He will.” I must say my mother’s confidence in our Lord was exceeded by God’s blessings. The preaching, the singing, the fellowship, and the exhibits were outstanding.
