Brian H. Cosby

P & R Publishing, 150 Pages, Paper, $12.99

Brian Cosby, in youth ministry for more than a decade, calls churches to gear youth ministry back to solid Bible-based grounding. Many will welcome his approaches. But Bible-believing Baptists will need to adapt the material to their dispensational positions; for example, a chapter urges youth ministry to get young people to rediscover the importance of baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and church membership. Fine. But he calls the first two “sacraments”; Baptists call them “ordinances,” with different emphases and meanings. Two appendixes, “Evaluating Your Ministry with Youth” and “Shepherding Youth alongside Families and Church Officers,” have helpful ideas. Watch for covenant theology throughout the book, however.
