RON J. BIGALKE JR., ED., University Press of America, 426 Pages, Paper, $51.00

The subtitle states that Progressive Dispensationalism is “an analysis of the movement and defense of traditional dispensationalism.” The book addresses various issues concerning this movement and way of thinking. The articles were written by well-known theologians and writers such as John Whitcomb, Arnold Fruchtenbaum, Robert Thomas, Mal Couch, Randall Price, Wayne House, and Thomas Ice.

After presenting the history of progressive dispensationalism, the book covers the movement’s dangers to premillennial theology, issues regarding the covenants, the hermeneutics of progressive dispensationalism, and the prophetic postponement in Daniel 9:24-27.

Every chapter ends with a considerable number of endnotes. An index is also included.

The book’s price is high, but there are many ways to obtain books at reduced prices, such as on the Internet. Finding a lower price is always worth a try, and particularly for pastors this book’s content is worth the extra effort.
